Description
The Australian ground-dwelling lyrebird adorns the Australian 10¢ coin. It is notable for its superb ability to mimic natural and artificial sounds from its environment and the striking beauty of the male bird’s huge tail when it is fanned out in a courtship display. Dusty-blue feathers fan out in all directions with each detail carefully using the technique of sgraffito onto the clay.
