Description

The Takahe is a flightless New Zealand bird. An invaluable food source to the Maori people, they became extinct on the North Island. The introduction of mammalian predators on the South Island was thought to have made them extinct not once, but twice. Fortunately, the Government acted to protect them. A donation from each plate was given to the Endangered Species Foundation of New Zealand, a registered charitable organisation supporting high-priority conservation projects that protect New Zealand’s most vulnerable indigenous species and habitats from extinction.
