Description
The snakeshead fritillary flower is a stunning, though rare sight. Modern cultivation methods have almost destroyed its native habitat. However, in North Meadow in Cricklade, Gloucestershire, these rare flowers bloom each Spring in their hundreds of thousands. The unusual name is derived from the nodding, cobra-like heads of chequerboard pink and purple petals. A beautiful strap-handled jug.
