Description
Echinacea is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants in the daisy family, which has ten species commonly called coneflowers. The generic name is derived from the Greek word “ekhinos”, meaning “hedgehog”, due to the spiny central disk. They are found only in eastern and central North America. They grow in moist to dry prairies and open wooded areas and draw butterflies, bees and songbirds.
