Description
Papaver Orientale Allegro or Oriental Poppy, was the inspiration for Emma’s Blue Allegro Flame using the old technique of blue-on-blue ‘engobe’ technique. Put simply, a dry but unfired vase is immersed in blue slip (liquid clay). The moisture sinks in to the dry body leaving a light blue skin covering the surface. After tubelining, it is coloured using only various shades of cobalt blue.
